Independent Support Services, Inc. is the Fiscal Intermediary for participants who have chosen Self-Direction. Therefore, we are the employer of record and must meet all federal and state mandates. While we are the employer of record, the participant and/or their family, recruit, hire and supervise the support staff.

If you are seeking support staff employment, please submit your resume to Opportunities@issny.org. Your resume will be included in a weekly email to family’s looking for support staff. As mentioned above, it’s up to the family’s to review these resumes, interview and hire the job candidates directly.

You’ve been hired! Now what?

If you have been conditionally hired by one of our participants and or their family please have them complete a Conditional Hire-Title Salary Request Form. Once Human Resources has received the form an application will be sent.

For staff that have already been cleared by Human Resources and are looking to start work with another participant, please have a New Hire Form completed and signed by the participant/guardian. You can then send this completed form to hr@issny.org.

Support Staff interested in working with additional families will be required to complete an internal job interest form (found on the Homepage > Forms tab) and submit the form along with a copy of their resume to hr@issny.org. HR will review the Support Staff’s personnel records to confirm they’ve been working with ISS at least 90 days, they have completed their mandatory trainings, have no current disciplinary memos on file, and/or negative driving history, etc.

Staff can include their resume as well, if interested in having their resume circulated through Opportunities.

Once approved, the HR department will forward their resume to opportunities@issny.org for families to contact them for interviews. If the staff is not approved, the support staff will be notified directly by the HR department regarding the reason they were not approved.

Participants/Families/Brokers/Designee: If you have interviewed a staff and are interested in hiring them, please have that person complete the internal interest form and send it along with your new hire form. We will review the support staff’s personnel records. If there are any concerns, we will notify the COS. If no concerns, we will proceed with the hiring process.
