Independent Support Services, Inc. is the Fiscal Intermediary for participants who have chosen Self-Direction. Therefore, we are the employer of record and must meet all federal and state mandates. While we are the employer of record, the participant and/or their family, recruit, hire and supervise the support staff.

If you are seeking employment in a Support Staff role, and are not currently working with families through ISS,  please submit your resume to Opportunities@issny.org. Your resume will be included in a weekly email to family’s looking for support staff. It is up to the family’s to review these resumes, interview and hire the job candidates directly.

Participants/Families/Brokers/Designee

You’ve been hired! Now what?

If you have been hired by one of our participants and or their family(COS), they will need to complete the People Services Hiring Form and submit to peopleservices@issny.org.  Once the People Services Department has received the form you will receive an email from an People Services Specialist to begin the hiring process.  The People Services Specialist will be your contact throughout the process.  You should  not begin working with any family before receiving clearance from the People Services Specialist.

Active Support Staff Seeking Additional Families to work with

The People Services Department will review personnel files of active Support Staff that are interested in working with additional families upon receipt of the People Services Hiring form from the family(COS).  The review will consist of confirming they’ve been working with ISS at least 90 days, they have completed their annual/ new hire mandatory trainings, have no current disciplinary memos on file, and/or negative driving history, etc.

If the staff has met all of the requirements we will send out an email to the Support Staff and the hiring family(COS) to move through the hire process.

If the staff has not met the requirements we will notify the staff and the hiring family of what is required to move forward in the hiring process, i.e. has not completed trainings, has memos on file, and etc.  If it is training related we will resend the training information and the staff will need to complete the training before we will proceed in the hiring process.

If the Support Staff is interested in having their resume circulated they should send their resume to peopleservices@issny.org for review.  Once the review is completed the staff will be notified if their resume will be circulated through Opportunities. If the staff is not approved, the support staff will be notified directly by the People Services department regarding the reason they were not approved.

Once approved, the People Services department will forward the resume to opportunities@issny.org for families to contact them for interviews.
