Through the generosity of donors and community partners like you, we work to ensure that individuals and families have access to the tools and opportunities they need to live with greater independence, dignity, and inclusion. We are committed to building a community where no one is denied the resources they need because of financial hardship.

And you’re not the only one. The Self-Direction model of support for individuals with a developmental disability allows a person to live the life that they can imagine instead of one with limited possibilities. With the benefit of support staff of their own choosing, individuals can find work with a Job Developer and Job Coach, or volunteer in a field of interest, or access their communities to spend their days in ways that bring them happiness.

Self-Direction funding supports these activities in many ways according to need but gaps do exist when the person does not have enough financial resources outside the budget or their parents are aging or unavailable to assist. The Barry Fund for Self-Direction was established to meet the gaps in funding that exist when these situations present themselves.

Your donation will go a long way to alleviate these situations and help ISS create models of Self-Direction that are sustainable for the long term.
